[Project Background] The Sino-Saudi Gulei Ethylene Project is located at the Gulei Petrochemical Base in Zhangzhou, Fujian Province. It is a major petrochemical project co-developed by China and SABIC, officially completing the investment decision in January 2024. The project plans to construct an ethylene steam cracking unit with an annual capacity of 1.5 million tons, along with a series of downstream facilities such as ethylene glycol, polyethylene, and polypropylene. It serves as the core engine driving the upgrading of Fujian Province's petrochemical industry.

[Role of Chinese Enterprises] As the principal EPC contractor, Sinopec Ningbo Engineering Company represented the signing of the EPC general contract for the relevant facility cluster at the contract signing ceremony, undertaking the engineering construction of multiple core chemical units within the 1.5 million-ton ethylene complex.

[Scope of Services] L4 EPC general contracting, responsible for the engineering design, equipment procurement, and construction of large-scale ethylene cracking units and multiple downstream processing facilities.

[Significance] This marks SABIC's first in-depth participation in a large-scale ethylene project within China. Ningbo Engineering Company, acting as the principal contractor, plays a core role in this high-level Sino-foreign joint venture, demonstrating the comprehensive strength of Chinese petrochemical engineering enterprises.
