Zhongshan Hospital Affiliated to Dalian University is located at No. 6 Jiefang Street, Zhongshan District, Dalian City, Liaoning Province. It is a Grade A, Class III comprehensive public hospital under dual administration by the Liaoning Provincial Department of Education and the Dalian Municipal Health Commission. Classified under the healthcare services industry (Q8411), the hospital is positioned as a high-level research-oriented affiliated hospital with clinical diagnosis and treatment as its foundation, discipline construction as its driving force, and translational medicine as its breakthrough point. The hospital has over 2,300 open beds and handles more than 2.8 million outpatient and emergency visits annually, making it one of the largest public comprehensive hospitals in the southern Liaoning region.  

The hospital’s core business focuses on integrated clinical technical services, including precision intervention for cardiovascular diseases, minimally invasive neurosurgical procedures, 3D-printed personalized orthopedic implants, multidisciplinary team (MDT) treatment for oncology, AI-assisted medical imaging diagnosis, and 5G-enabled remote ultrasound guidance. Its primary service recipients include members of regional medical consortia, grassroots healthcare institutions, and cross-border cooperative organizations, to whom it provides standardized clinical pathways, intelligent system deployment, and remote technical support.  

Core capabilities encompass improvements to cardiovascular interventional devices; R&D of AI-based pathology and medical imaging algorithms (“Zhongshan Zhiying” AI System holds a Class II medical device registration certificate, Liaoning Medical Device Registration Approval No. 20242070122); design of 3D-printed orthopedic implants; construction of a Level-5 electronic medical record (EMR) system; and implementation of Phase I–III clinical trials compliant with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards. To date, the hospital has secured 37 National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) projects, 215 provincial- and ministerial-level scientific research projects, published over 1,200 SCI-indexed papers, and holds 28 invention patents (e.g., ZL202110234567.8), covering medical devices, algorithms, and materials.  

In terms of qualifications, the hospital has obtained ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System Certification (Certificate No. 0012019Q30008R1M), passed the national Level-5 evaluation for EMR system functionality, registered as a National Drug Clinical Trial Institution (GCP) (NMPA Registration No. 20230042), and holds all statutory specialized licenses, including the Radiological Diagnosis and Treatment License, the Certificate of Approval for Human Assisted Reproductive Technology, and the Organ Transplantation Practice License.  

Notable achievements include leading the development of the “Northeast China Regional Consensus on Collaborative Management of Acute ST-Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction (2023 Edition)”; establishing a chest pain emergency network covering Dalian and six other cities—Yingkou, Dandong, etc.—with an average door-to-balloon (D-to-B) time of 62 minutes; performing Northeast China’s first robot-assisted total hip replacement surgery; and conducting Dalian’s first transcatheter mitral valve clip procedure.  

Regarding international collaboration, the hospital jointly established a Cardiovascular Joint Research Center with Kitasato University Hospital (Japan) and signed a China-Japan agreement on remote pathological diagnosis. In 2024, it was approved by the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine for the “Belt and Road Initiative” International Cooperation Program, exporting TCM rehabilitation technology standards to Russia and Kazakhstan.
