Dalian Marine Diesel Engine Co., Ltd., located in Ganjingzi District, Dalian City, Liaoning Province, is China’s only specialized prime mover development enterprise possessing independent R&D, design, manufacturing, testing, and after-sales service capabilities for the full range of low-speed and medium-speed high-power marine diesel engines. It is a state-owned large-scale backbone enterprise under China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited (CSSC). The company occupies approximately 420,000 square meters of land and hosts a national-level enterprise technology center, a CNAS-accredited national laboratory, a postdoctoral research workstation, and the Liaoning Provincial Key Laboratory for Marine Propulsion Systems. It has obtained ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 management system certifications and holds type approval certificates and production licenses from leading classification societies—including China Classification Society (CCS), DNV, LR, ABS, and BV—as well as design and manufacturing qualifications for the full range of engine models compliant with IMO Tier II/III emission standards.  

Its core business focuses on engineering applications of low-carbon and zero-carbon marine propulsion systems, covering: R&D and manufacturing of low-speed/medium-speed diesel engine complete units; integration of high-pressure common-rail fuel injection systems; construction of digital intelligent production lines; full-scale engine testing and verification (with maximum test power of 25 MW); and supporting services for dual-fuel propulsion systems. Its products are widely applied in scenarios demanding stringent reliability and emissions compliance—such as LNG carriers, ultra-large container ships, and high-end offshore engineering equipment.  

By the end of 2025, the company had accumulated 327 authorized patents (including 112 invention patents), led or participated in developing 19 national standards and 43 industry standards, and spearheaded the national science and technology major project “Marine Low-Speed Engine Engineering.” Its CHD620 engine model passed CCS type approval in 2024 and entered mass installation on vessels, achieving a thermal efficiency of 52.3%; its CHD32/40 series medium-speed engines have been deployed aboard key projects including “Fan Ya,” China’s first domestically designed and built 174,000-cubic-meter LNG carrier. In 2025, marine main engine deliveries increased by 18.6% year-on-year, with 31% exported to countries including Greece, Singapore, and Norway; its technical service network covers major ports across East Asia, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. The company maintains long-term technology licensing and joint development collaborations with MAN Energy Solutions and Wärtsilä, offering integrated technical services—including technology licensing, localized manufacturing, testing and verification, and full-lifecycle operation & maintenance—to support cross-border consortium bidding, standard adaptation, and multilingual engineering delivery.
