It is a branch legally established by Baowu Carbon Industry (Securities Code: 873542), a company listed on the Beijing Stock Exchange. Established in accordance with China Baowu Steel Group’s strategic deployment on carbon-based new materials, the branch completed its industrial and commercial registration and commenced operations in 2022. It is an advanced carbon-materials manufacturing unit designated for key support under China’s national “Dual Carbon” strategy.  

The company’s core business focuses on research, development, production, and sales of high-end carbon-based functional materials, including coal-based needle coke, ultra-high-power graphite electrodes, and precursors for lithium-ion/sodium-ion battery anode materials. Its primary customers include upstream segments of the industrial chain such as iron and steel metallurgy, new-energy batteries (e.g., Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited [CATL], Guoxuan High-Tech, Wanxiang Qiyi), and electric arc furnace (EAF) steelmaking. Technical capabilities span the entire value chain—from raw material pretreatment, delayed coking, calcination and purification, to graphite heat-field control. Representative achievements include: completion in 2023 of the Meishan needle coke production line intelligent upgrading project (selected as a 2024 Ministry of Industry and Information Technology [MIIT] Intelligent Manufacturing Demonstration Factory candidate); supporting commissioning in 2024 of the Yangtze River Delta one-ton-per-batch sodium-ion battery anode material demonstration line; and assuming sub-task responsibilities in 2025 under the National Key R&D Program “Preparation and Application Demonstration of Novel Energy Storage Materials.” Products are exported to POSCO (South Korea) and JFE Steel (Japan); export share reached 11.3% in 2024, and the company possesses the capability to deliver products compliant with major international standards.
